Ten newborn products our editor swears by
It’s my second rodeo at this motherhood lark and this time I feel like I really know what it, and more importantly, not needed to get through the first newborn months. From prams to carriers and baby grows to pumps, here’s my essential guide to newborn products based on what’s worked for me as a second time mum.
Pram - Bugaboo Fox 5 Renew
When I first looked at getting this pram I did worry that it might be too ‘city’ for my lifestyle but it passed it’s first country test with flying colours as it steadily and without doubt took on the muddy and undulating terrains of the Sussex countryside! Not only is the forest green colour the perfect neutral, in my opinion, but the newborn bassinet is genuinely spacious and as someone who has tall babies, this is much needed. Functionally it ticks all the boxes but the most impressive part? It folds down with the bassinet attached! See my video tutorial here.

2. Carrier - Artipoppe zeitgeist
I’ve tried a few different style of baby carrier now and I just keep finding myself coming back to the Artipoppe zeitgeist. It was my 27th birthday present from my mother a few weeks after I had my first baby and it really is the most chic and comfortable way to baby wear for me. Even my husband has finally admitted that this actually is worth the money…I have the ‘Argus Oat’ colour-way but if money was not object I would have one in every colour.

3. Babygrows - MORI
From all the brands I’ve tried over the past three years, MORI is the one I will always recommend to friends. They are simply the softest, and most long-lasting babygrows on the market without a doubt and they are worth every penny.

4. Quilted Snowsuit - Valentina Karnoubi X Töastie
For me there is one brand who deliver time and time again for outdoorsy children and this is Töastie. Not only are they are a British independent brand making stunning designs and collaborations but the quality is unmatched, making their snowsuits perfect for a winter baby like mine and I can’t wait to take her skiing and have her wrapped up warm and ‘toasty’ in this snowsuit.

5. Baby Blanket - The White Company
Did I need another baby blanket? No. Do I think this particular baby blanket from The White Company was one of the nicest gifts I have received? Yes. Is it the only one I now use? Also yes.

6. Breastpump - MomCozy
The MomCozy M9 Breastpump has become part of my daily routine for my newborn baby even though I am breastfeeding. I am pumping to give an expressed bottle 1-2 times per day and I need my hands free to look after my toddler and crack on with other jobs whilst I am expressing. It’s not the smallest pump on the market and the units are relatively heavy than perhaps their newest model, the Airpump - but it’s worked brilliantly for me and I have had zero issues. For it’s pricepoint, it’s super high tech and the app is really useful if you want to track everything. The setup is foolproof and I have found it seamless to use. Lastly, the battery goes on forever! Highly recommend.

7. Bottles & Dummies - MAM
For me, it’s always going to be MAM for any dummies or bottles and both my children have loved their teats so it’s a big 10/10 from me.

8. Baby bouncer - Baby Bjorn
You would be surprised at how many places you need to be able to put your baby down when you live in a house of two dogs, a toddler and hard floors everywhere! In addition, my baby has been pretty ‘refluxy’ so if I need to put her down straight after feeding, the bouncer provides a more upright setting for when I can’t carry her over my shoulder - a common problem with a toddler running around the place! My firstborn practically lived in this bouncer as she loved it so much and I will always describe this baby bouncer as one of my top five items for new parents.

9. White noise machine & red light - Love to dream
I’m really keen to ensure that this baby has recognisable sleep associations from day one such as white noise to allow me to keep a consistent napr outine wherever we go so I did use white noise from the first few weeks earthside. I’ve been using the Love to dream nightlight and white noise machine on the ‘womb sounds’ setting and could not be without the red light at nighttime for feeds and nappy changes.

I’ve used Etta Loves sensory toys and muslins since my first baby back in 2023 and I love this female-founded independent British brand.
