Here’s everything we’re loving from the M&S Bella Freud collab

Marks and Spencer recently announced the launch of a second design collaboration with London based fashion designer, Bella Freud, launching online and in selected stores - and this time, kidswear is included! With Bella’s signature wit and modern sensibility, building on the success of the debut Winter 24’ collection. Rooted in the irreverent cool that has made Bella Freud a cult name on the British Fashion scene, the partnership widens its lens, evolving into a fully-fledged lifestyle collection that brings Bella’s signature words and modern edge to Womenswear, Lingerie, Menswear, Kids & Home.

The collaboration once again delivers a fun, authentic collection, broadening Bella’s partnership with the high-street retailer and striking the perfect balance of cult appeal and everyday ease - which feels considered, covetable and crucially accessible.

The capsule womenswear edit has been thoughtfully designed, offering an array of outfitting options to play with. Featuring a contemporary colour palette of black, navy and white, underpinned with seasonal brown and burgundy interjected with bright colour pops of pink and green. Outerwear and tailoring mainstays include a 100% recycled wool coat, velvet tuxedo trousers and co-coordinating velvet tuxedo jacket. Across knitwear, Bella’s iconic word jumpers - bestsellers from the first collection - are back. With new words, chosen by Bella - available in a mix of 100% cashmere and wool with cashmere styles. Layered back with everyday essentials across denim and easy to style separates like the 100% silk tie shirt.

Bella Freud comments; “This year’s collection is based on the idea of entertaining at home. You want to be a bit dressed up and feel glamorous, but you also want to feel at ease. At the centre of the collection is a velvet suit and around that, there’s wool and cashmere knitwear and silk shirts, to style it back with. I think the styling feels old school and glamorous – its dressing down that’s dressed up.”

Bella worked collaboratively with the M&S design team to create the collection. From concepting with the M&S team and sketching designs in her London studio, through to seeing the collection come to life on set during the campaign shoot. Each statement word or phrase, featured, was hand-drawn by Bella herself and synonymous with her style, with every element considered and captured. From proportion to stroke and movement, giving each word a life of its own.
