Ten minutes with Cat Gazzoli, Founder of Piccolo
Introduce yourself and tell us a little about Piccolo.
“I'm Cat Gazzoli, founder of Piccolo. I started the business after becoming a mum myself because I wanted to make it easier for parents to feed their children nutritious, flavour-packed food made with real ingredients.
At Piccolo, we're passionate about giving families practical products that make home cooking feel more achievable, even on the busiest days. Everything we create is designed to take some of the pressure off parents while helping children develop a love of wholesome food. Whether it's our cooking ingredients or our latest innovations, our goal is always the same: making family mealtimes simpler and more nutritious.”
What inspired you to launch a bone broth specifically for children?
“Bone broth has become incredibly popular with adults over the last few years, but there simply wasn't a version suitable for younger children. Most products on the market are made for adults and contain high salt levels.
We recognised a real opportunity to create something that gave families all the convenience and flavour of bone broth, but with a recipe designed especially for children. It felt like a natural addition to the Piccolo range because it helps parents cook nourishing meals without adding extra time to their day.”
Why do you think bone broth is becoming such a popular ingredient?
“Parents are becoming much more interested in cooking with simple, recognisable ingredients that add flavour as well as nutrition. Bone broth ticks both boxes. It's incredibly versatile and works in so many family meals, from pasta sauces and soups to stews, risottos and casseroles. It's one of those ingredients that quietly elevates everyday cooking while helping parents make meals feel a little more nourishing.”
What makes Piccolo Organic Beef Bone Broth unique?
“Our broth has been developed specifically for children. It's organic, no added salt and ready to use straight from the pack, making it really convenient for busy families. Each 100ml contains 2.9g of protein and 1.3g of collagen, and because it's already been slow-cooked, parents can simply pour it straight into recipes without spending hours preparing stock themselves. As we like to say on the pack: We've done the slow cooking, so you don't have to.”
What's next for Piccolo?
“We're always listening to parents and looking at how we can make family mealtimes easier. Every product we develop starts with the same question: "Will this genuinely help busy families?" Launching Europe's first bone broth made specifically for children is a really exciting milestone for us, and we're looking forward to continuing to bring innovative, practical products to parents who want to cook wholesome meals with real ingredients.”
